Queen Alolade Oyinlola

Biography of Olori Comfort Alolade Oyinlola

Olori Comfort Alolade Oyinlola was the fourth of five children of Pa Irokotola and Mama Aboyade. Her parents' only male child was the last. There is no record of her date of birth, but it can be guessed that it was in the early 20th century.

Originally from Otan Ayegbaju, Osun State, Olori Alolade's father hailed from Ile Odi Olowo, Otan Ayegbaju, while the mother was from Ile Oluode, also in Otan Ayegbaju. The family relocated to Okuku in Odo Otin Local Government Area of Osun State a long time ago, and became part of the town's success story.

Alolade, at puberty, was betrothed to Oba Moses Oyewole Oyinlola, the Olokuku of Okuku, who reigned from 1934 to 1960. The union was blessed with five children - two females, and three males, one of whom is Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, a retired Brigadier General, former Military Administrator of Lagos State, and former governor of Osun State.

Olori Alolade Oyinlola, early enough, bought into her husband's vision to have all her children educated. She was, thus, actively involved in nurturing her children and others along the productive path of Western education. The result saw her first child and daughter, Moradehun, becoming a qualified nurse and midwife in record time. All her other children were in various grades in school when she died on 13 May 1959. Eventually, all the children became well-educated and successful in their chosen fields.
